DENGUE NS1 ELISA KIT and DENGUE NS1 RAPID TEST -  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dengue fever is a worldwide health problem, and in epidemic proportions in some countries.  The World Health Organization estimates that annually, 50-100 million people are infected worldwide with the dengue virus.   Studies have shown that early detection of Dengue NS1 virus using tests like the Dengue NS1 ELISA test and Dengue NS1 Rapid test can help in early confirmation, clinical treatment, and control of dengue viral infections.  To address this problem,  Los Angeles-based Diagnostic Automation/Cortez Diagnostics, Inc., a leading manufacturer and distributor of medical test kits in the U.S. and throughout the world, offers two very popular Dengue NS1 test kits — Dengue NS1 ELISA Kit and Dengue NS1 Rapid Test that detect Dengue NS1 (non-structural protein 1) of Dengue virus.  The Dengue NS1 ELISA test and the Dengue NS1 Rapid Test are effective new diagnostic tools for early diagnosis of dengue virus infection.  Below are some of the frequently asked questions surrounding these products.

DENGUE NS1 ANTIGEN ELISA KIT – FAQ

Dengue NS1 Antigen ELISA KIT  (#8404-25)

Is the Dengue NS1 ELISA kit easy to use?

The Dengue NS1 ELISA Kit is an excellent assay that contains a high level of sensitivity and specificity in detecting the NS1 antigen of Dengue virus.  The Dengue NS1 ELISA Kit is a rapid and reliable Dengue ELISA kit that contains sufficient reagents for one plate of 96 wells.  The user-friendly Dengue NS1 ELISA Kit contains components that are highly effective and the Dengue NS1 ELISA Kit has easy-to-read controls to determine positive or negative results.

How long is the incubation time of the Dengue NS1 ELISA Kit?

Total incubation time of the Dengue NS1 ELiSA test is approximately 2 hours (60-30-20).  Incubation procedures of the Dengue NS1 ELISA test kit are easy to follow.  Clear instructions for specific Dengue NS1 ELISA test procedures in specimen collection and preparation are found in the Dengue NS1 ELISA kit product insert which should help with your specific needs.

What is the total time it takes to process a sample on the Dengue NS1 ELISA kit?

Total time for the Dengue NS1 ELISA Test to be performed is approximately 250 minutes.

What principle is used in the Dengue NS1 ELISA test kit?

Dengue NS1 Antigen ELISA test uses the two-step sandwich type immunoassay to detect low levels of NS1 in serum.

What is the storage of the Dengue NS1 ELISA kit?

The samples of the Dengue NS1 ELISA kit may be stored at 2-8 degrees celsius for up to 7 days, or frozen at -20 degrees celsius or lower for up to 30 days.  To maintain long-term longevity of the serum on the Dengue NS1 ELISA kit, store at -70 degrees celsius.  Avoid repeated freezing and thawing of samples on Dengue NS1 ELISA kit.

What is the shelf life of the Dengue NS1 ELISA kit?

Shelf life of the Dengue NS1 ELISA test is 12 months from the manufacture date.

Do you also distribute Dengue ELISA Kits for IgG and IgM antibodies?

Yes, we offer three Dengue ELISA kitsDengue ELISA IgG/IgM kit, Dengue ELISA IgG kit, and Dengue ELISA IgM kit.  In addition, an easy-to-use and reliable Dengue Rapid Kit is available.

DENGUE NS1 ANTIGEN RAPID TEST – FAQ

Dengue NS1 Antigen Rapid Test  (#173110-25)

What is the total time it takes to process a sample on the Dengue NS1 Rapid Test?

Depending on how many samples are collected, testing of Dengue NS1 Antigen Rapid Test should be done immediately after collection of serum.  Serum collection and reading results on Dengue NS1 Antigen Rapid Test can be performed in approximately 30 minutes.  Caution: do not interpret results of the Dengue NS1 Rapid Test more than 45 minutes after serum collection as this may lead to erroneous results.

What is the storage of the Dengue NS1 Rapid Test?

The sealed pouch and Chase Buffer of the Dengue NS1 Rapid Test are designed to be stored at room temperature (22 – 30 degrees celsius) for the duration of their shelf life.  Exposure to temperatures over 30 degrees celsius can impact the performance of the Dengue NS1 Rapid Test and should be minimized.

What principle is used in the Dengue NS1 Antigen Rapid Test?

The Dengue NS1 Antigen Rapid Test is a qualitative, membrane based immunoassay for the detection of NS1 antigen in human serum.  The Dengue NS1 Rapid Test membrane is pre-coated with a NS1 specific antibody on the Dengue NS1 Rapid Test line region and utilizes a separate control to assure assay flow and performance.  During testing, the Dengue NS1 Antigen Rapid Test sample is added directly to the sample region on the Dengue NS1 Rapid Test and the test is placed into a well containing 3 drops of buffer. The buffer and serum mix and interact with NS1-specific monoclonal antibodies conjugated to gold nano particles.  The solution in the Dengue NS1 Rapid Test migrates upward on the membrane to react with the anti-NS1 antibody on the membrane.  If NS1 antigen is present, a red line will appear at the Dengue NS1 Rapid Test line.

What is the sensitivity and specificity of the Dengue NS1 Antigen Rapid Test?

The relative high sensitivity in detecting patients with primary infections and the overall high specificity of the Dengue NS1 Antigen Rapid Test make it well suited for the early detection of dengue virus.  Recent studies have shown the Dengue NS1 Antigen Rapid Test as having a sensitivity of 85% to 89% and a specificity of nearly 98%.  The diagnostic sensitivity of the Dengue NS1 Antigen Rapid Test is significantly enhanced if used in a combination antigen and antibody testing approach.
