Dengue Rapid Tests

Los Angeles-based Diagnostic Automation/Cortez Diagnostics, Inc., a leading manufacturer and distributor of Dengue Fever Rapid Tests, offers an easy-to-use Dengue Rapid Test to identify the dengue virus.  This Dengue Fever Rapid Test is a qualitative test for the detection of IgM and IgG antibodies to dengue virus in human serum, plasma or whole blood. The Dengue rapid test provides a differential detection of anti-dengue IgM and anti-dengue-IgG antibodies.  The Dengue Rapid Test can be used for the presumptive distinction between a primary and secondary dengue infection.   A high proportion of dengue virus infections can be detected swiftly and easily using a Dengue Rapid Test.  The Dengue Rapid Test can help to diagnose active dengue infections from the very first day fever appears.  In facilitating early diagnosis by using this Dengue Rapid Test, therapy and monitoring can begin much earlier, reducing the risk of severe complications.  Early and prompt diagnosis with the Dengue Rapid Test can facilitate vector control activities in the community so as to mitigate further transmission.  Also, the expanded use of accurate Dengue Rapid Tests provides important data on the epidemiology and health burden of dengue and in doing so can inform and guide public health policy.

According to the World Health Organization’s 2009 Report, “Dengue is the most rapidly spreading mosquito-borne viral disease in the world.  In the last 50 years, incidence has increased 30-fold with increasing geographic expansion to new countries. . . . An estimated 50 million dengue infections occur annually and approximately 2.5 billion people live in dengue endemic countries.”  Because of the vast implications of these findings, it is essential that early detection of dengue fever, like those offered using Dengue Rapid Tests, is vitally important for the prompt care and treatment of infected individuals. Timely, sensitive, and easy to use, the Dengue Rapid Tests are essential for early detection and identification of the infection so that treatment may be started without delay.

The Dengue Rapid Test, or OneStep Dengue RapiCardTM InstaTest, is a immunochromatographic assay for the simultaneous detection of IgG and IgM antibodies to Dengue virus in human whole blood, serum or plasma. The assay is used as a screening test for Dengue viral infection and as an aid for differential diagnosis of primary and secondary infections in conjunction with other criteria.  This Dengue Rapid Test is a new generation immunochromatographic test using recombinant dengue viral antigens of all four serotypes to detect specific antibody response. This convenient and easy-to-use Dengue Rapid Test is for in-vitro diagnostic use only.  The Dengue Fever Rapid Test provides an excellent methodology for specifically detecting anti-dengue IgG and IgM antibodies. The presence of high titers of IgG antibodies on the Dengue rapid test does not interfere with the detection of IgM antibodies in the sample.  By using a mixture of highly purified dengue proteins, the Dengue rapid test is able to detect all 4 Dengue serotypes.

Serum, plasma or whole blood samples may be used with this Dengue rapid test. When a specimen is added to the Dengue rapid test, IgG and IgM antibodies in the specimen sample react with blue particles coated with dengue envelope proteins. As this specimen/particle mixture migrates along the length of the Dengue rapid test, the anti-dengue IgG or IgM antibody particle complex is captured by the relevant IgG and/or IgM test bands located in the Dengue rapid test device window causing a pale to dark blue band to form at the IgG or IgM region of the test device window. The intensity of the bands on the Dengue rapid test will vary depending upon the amount of antibody present in the sample. The appearance of any color in a specific Dengue rapid test region (IgG or IgM) should be considered as positive for that particular antibody type (IgG or IgM).  A red procedural control line should always develop in the Dengue rapid test device window to indicate that the Dengue rapid test has been performed properly.

Diagnostic Automation/Cortez Diagnostics, Inc. has been a leader in the development of infectious disease rapid tests for more than 20 years.  The use of tests like this Dengue Rapid Test, as a first-line test for the screening and treatment of dengue-infected patients, could help to accelerate the diagnosis of dengue fever in clinical diagnostic laboratories.  Rapid and easy diagnosis of dengue infection using the Dengue Rapid Test can assist patient triage and care management.  This Dengue Fever Rapid Test is available in cassette format only.  For more information on this Dengue Rapid Test, please contact Customer Service.

Other products are also available in the fight to diagnosis and treat the dengue virus.  One highly effective Dengue Rapid Test is the fairly new Dengue NS1 Rapid Test.  The Dengue NS1 Rapid Test is a chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of non-structural protein 1 (NS1) antigens in whole blood, serum, or plasma.  Along with this Dengue Rapid Test is the newly arrived Dengue NS1 Antigen ELISA Kit which is an Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay for the detection of dengue virus in human serum even prior to the presence of IgM or IgG antibodies.   Lastly, three Dengue ELISA Kits are available that specifically detect and identify IgG, IgM, and combination IgG/IgM antibodies respectively in human serum.  For more information on any of these Dengue Rapid Tests or Dengue ELISA Kits, please contact our Customer Service Department.
